Welton ‘Steve’ Stephens, age 84, of Hiram, GA, passed away on Wednesday, May 29, 2019 at Wellstar Paulding Hospital. He was born on February 25, 1935 in Atlanta, GA, to the late Jason and Eva Stephens. Mr. Stephens worked as a Parts Manager for Jim Letts Oldsmobile for 25 years and was an honorable Veteran of the United States Army. He was of Baptist Faith. Mr. Stephens was a Past Master at Bartlett and Mableton Masonic Lodge. He is preceded in death by his parents and five siblings.
Survivors include his loving wife of almost 63 years, Barbara Price Stephens of Hiram, GA and daughter, Marcel ‘Marcie’ and Ronnie Baker of Hiram, GA. Proud Paw Paw of three grandchildren, Kerri (Eddie) Brooks of Dallas, GA, Lacy (Corey) Dunn of Dallas, GA, Cody Baker (Heather Lawrence) of Rockmart, GA, and four great grandchildren; Easton Brooks, Avery Brooks, Ezra Dunn, Blaze Dunn. Additional survivors include his sister in law, Carolyn S. Oglesby, special extended family, Glenda and J.L. Murray and their family of Marietta, GA, in addition to many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services for Mr. Stephens will be held on Saturday, June 1, 2019 at 11:00 AM from the Chapel of Clark Funeral Home with Matt Gurley officiating. Interment will follow the service at Georgia Memorial Park Cemetery with the following gentleman serving as pallbearers; Danny Cantrell, Wesley Mauldin, Chuck Mabry, Darwin Young, Randy West, and Ron Noles. Serving as Honorary pallbearers will be; Cody Baker, Eddie Brooks, and Corey Dunn. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, May 31, 2019 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully asks that donations be made to the American Lung Association, the American Heart Association or a charity of your choosing in honor of Mr. Stephens.
