Paul Newton Browand Jr.

Paul Newton Browand Jr., age 92, of Gainesboro, Tennessee, passed away on Wednesday, May 20,2020 at his daughter’s home surrounded by his loving family.  He was born on September 23, 1927 in Altoona, PA, to his parents; Paul Newton Browand Sr. and Mabel Gilmore Browand. In 1951 Paul met his future wife and after his 6-1/2 years in the US army as Staff Sergeant, he accepted a discharge.  He graduated from Purdue University 4 years later with a degree in Metallurgy.  He was well known in the industry for formulating a grey anodizing that was used on the Gillbreath Building in New York City.  Paul was retired from Reynolds Metals where he worked for 21 years. Paul greatly enjoyed wood working, golfing, vacationing with his family being active in his community and camping. Most importantly, he was a family man who supported his beloved wife and children endlessly. Paul was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, great grandfather and friend to many who will be dearly missed. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Michael Paul Browand.

Survivors include his loving wife of 67 years, Laura Browand of Gainesboro, TN daughters, Cindy Denman of Marietta, GA, Paula Cross and her husband David of Marietta, GA, sister, Shirley Meyers of Altoona, PA, grandchildren; Jeff Browand and his wife, Meredith, Nicole Browand, Paul Charles Jones and his wife, Natalie, Joel Jones and his wife, Elisabeth, Christopher Denman, great grandchildren; John Browand, Pete Browand, Molly Browand, Oliver Jones, and Marleigh Jones due in August, as well as several nieces and nephews.

A Private Funeral Service for Mr. Browand will be held on Friday, May 22, 2020 at Clark Funeral Home. Interment will follow the service at Pine Ridge Memorial Park Cemetery. The family would like to extend their love and appreciation to everyone who will not be able to attend the service in person due to Covid-19 restrictions.
