Mona Jennings Rakestraw, 85, of Dallas, GA passed away on Saturday, March 27, 2021. She was born on January 9, 1936, in Whitesburg, GA to the late J. S. and Ethel Jennings. Mrs. Rakestraw was a member of First Baptist Church of Dallas. She enjoyed her work at Lockheed as an electrical engineer for more than ten years. By nature she was a caregiver and was always wanting to help someone.
She is survived by her daughter, Joy (Chris) Hambrick of New Hope; one brother, Roger (Edna) Jennings; and two sisters, Miriam Ozmore and Kathy (Charlie) Mauck; two grandchildren, Katie Hambrick and her fiancée Graham Suddeth, and Allison Hambrick.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Rakestraw was preceded in death by her husband, J. W. Rakestraw, and two brothers, Jan Jennings and Eddie Jennings.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 1 at 2:00 p.m. at Clark Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Don Rackley officiating. Interment will follow in Dallas Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday prior to the funeral from noon to 2:00 p.m.
The family would like to extend their love and appreciation to everyone who may be unable to attend the service in person due to the states Covid-19 concerns or state restrictions (no more than 50 people inside the funeral home at one time). If attending the visitation or service, the staff of Clark Funeral Home highly recommends that a face mask be worn and that social distancing be practiced to help prevent the spreading of any possible illnesses and to help keep visitors, friends and family members of Mrs. Rakestraw safe.
