Martha Sue Clay

Martha Sue Clay, age 84, of Rockmart, GA, passed away on Wednesday, April 29, 2020 at Wellstar Paulding Hospital. She was born on July 26, 1935 in Lancaster, S.C. to her late parents, William Matthews and Queenie Matthews Clay. Martha worked as a bookkeeper for Paulding County Board of Education for 40 years and was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Dallas. Mrs. Clay was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great grandmother who will be dearly missed by all her loving family and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 65 years, Harold Clay and her brother, Paul Matthews.

Survivors include her sons; Andy Clay and his wife, Donna of Dallas, GA, Art Clay and his wife, Darlene of Rockmart, GA, grandchildren; Christy Cochran (Shane), Mandy Thomason (Howell), Travis Clay (Tracy), Leslie Winters (Mark), Natalie Shirley(Kenneth), great grandchildren; Jake Clay, Luke Clay, Tripp Clay, Bleu Winters, Grayton Winters, Tack Shirley, Renna Shirley, Akyssa Cochran, Cody Cochran, Cole Cochran, Christian Thomason, Cameron Thomason, Faith Thomason and many nieces and nephews.

A private graveside service for Mrs. Martha Sue Clay will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2020 at Dallas City Cemetery with Rev. Thomas Cole officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be the following gentlemen: Shane Cochran, Howell Thomason, Travis Clay, Mark Winters, Kenneth Shirley, and Jake Clay.
