Laurence Layton Wilburn

Laurence Layton Wilburn, age 92, passed away on Thursday, May 27, 2021 at Wellstar Paulding. Mr. Wilburn was born on July 26, 1928 in South Carolina. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Dallas, GA and worked at Williams and Wilburn Paving and retired from Douglas County after 40 total years of work. Laurence was known for his love of his family, joyful personality, gardening, yardwork, and being a loving daddy and pop. He is preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Anna Wilburn; and 7 brothers and sisters.

Laurence is survived by his loving wife, Sylvia Wilburn; daughter, Vanessa (Chuck) Gaines; grandchild, Courtney (David) Hernandez; many nieces and nephews; and a lot of friends.

Funeral services for Mr. Wilburn will be at Clark Funeral Home Chapel on Sunday, May 30, 2021 at 1:00 PM with Rev. Don Rackley officiating; Jack Waldrep, David Hernandez, and Chuck Gaines speaking. Interment will follow at Dallas Memory Gardens with the following as pallbearers: Barry Puckett, Keith Puckett, Josh Blake, Scott Williams, Boyd Austin, and  Alan Matthews. The family will receive friends on Saturday, May 29, 2021 from 5:00 until 8:00 PM at Clark Funeral Home.

The family would like to extend their love and appreciation to everyone who may be unable to attend the service in person due to Covid-19 concerns.
