John Randall Mitchell

John Mitchell "Big John", 72, passed away Friday, May 5, 2023 in Rome, Georgia.

He was born to Paul Dempsey and Sarah Louise Mitchell on Friday, April 23, 1951 in Buford, Georgia.

Big John had a secret heart of gold. He worked in the trucking industry for several years before opening his own. He started Dice Transport in 1997 and ran a successful trucking company for 20 years. He loved being that guy that could fix anything. He loved dirt track racing with his boys and spending money on his grandkids.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Judy Darlene Mitchell, parents; Paul and Sarah Mitchell, and his brother Frank Wigley.

Big John is lovingly survived by his sons; Tim Mitchell (Joy) and John Paul Mitchell, his sisters; Dixie Thomas (Eddie) and Patsy Livingston. He is also survived by his grandsons; Tristan Paul Mitchell, Dawson Mitchell (Emma), his granddaughter; Katie Smith (Levi) and he is expecting his first great grandson in June 2023, Brooks Thomas Smith.

The family will receive friends Monday, May 8, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Clark Funeral Home. Big John will be laid to rest on Tuesday, May 9, 2023, at 11:00 AM at Peaceful Meadows Cemetery in Dallas, Georgia with Tristan Mitchell, Dawson Mitchell, Levi Smith, Walker Gravett, Rodney Gravett and Anthony Dobson serving as pallbearers.
