Howard Downs Jr.

Howard Downs Jr, age 88, of Hiram, GA, passed away on Monday, December 28, 2020 at Wellstar Cobb. He was born on September 27, 1932 in Atlanta, GA. to his late parents; Howard Sr. and Telula Downs. Mr. Downs worked for Bennett Trucking as a shop foreman for over 20 years before his retirement and was a member of Rock Springs Presbyterian Church. Howard was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend who will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving sister; Doris Morgan.

Mr. Downs is survived by his loving wife; Irene L. Downs, daughters; Joyce Buschmann of Stone Mountain, GA. and Teresa Downs of Lawrenceville, GA., sons; Danny and Beth Downs of Douglasville, GA. and Billy Downs of Panama City, FL., grandchildren; Kris, Jessica, Denise, Danny, Tara, Danielle, Trevor, Randy, Brian, Stephanie, along with several great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services for Mr. Downs will be Saturday, January 2, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Clark Funeral Home with Dr. Wayne Meadows officiating. Interment will follow the service at West View Cemetery in Atlanta, GA. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, January 2, 2021 from 10:00 AM until 11:00.

In lieu of flowers, the family ask that donations be made to Poplar Springs Baptist Church in the name of the Lottie Moon Fund.

If attending the visitation or service, the staff of Clark Funeral Home highly recommends that a face mask be worn and that social distancing is practiced to help prevent the spreading of any possible illnesses and to help keep visitors, friends and family members of Mr. Downs safe.

The family would like to extend their love and appreciation to everyone who may be unable to attend the service in person due to the states Covid-19 restrictions (no more than 50 people inside the funeral home at one time).
