Hershell Smith

September 7, 1927 — March 23, 2021

Hershell Smith, age 93, passed away Tuesday, March 23, 2021 at Pine Knoll Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Carrollton, GA. He was born on September 7, 1927 to his late parents, Frank and Flora Smith. Hershell enjoyed fishing, golfing, gardening, and singing in the church choir at Macedonia Baptist Church where he was a member. Hershell was known as a supporter of all Ga sports, especially the Ga Bulldogs. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his loving wife, Bessie Smith and his nine brothers.

Mr. Smith is survived by his daughters, Teresa (James) Buford and Connie (Charles) Fennell both of Dallas, Ga; son, Tim (Debbie) Smith of Hiram, Ga; 11 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and 6 great great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mr. Smith will be held on Saturday, March 27, 2021 at 2:00 at Clark Funeral Home with Joey Hulsey, Brother Alton Williams, and Brother Jimmy Elzey officiating. Interment will follow at Paulding Memorial Gardens. The pallbearers will be Luke Wood, Patrick Wood, C.J. Parson, Jason Hulsey, Shad Smith, and Austin Nichols. The family will receive friends from 12:00 until the time of service.

If attending the visitation, the staff of Clark Funeral Home highly recommends that a face mask be worn, and that social distancing is practiced to help prevent the spreading of any possible illnesses and to help keep visitors, friends and family members of Mr. Smith safe.  The family would like to extend their love and appreciation to everyone who may be unable to attend the service in person due to the states Covid-19 restrictions (no more than 50 people inside the funeral home at one time).
