Connie Tibbitts

Connie Sue Tibbitts, age 69, passed away on Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at her home. She was born on December 24, 1951 to Umbrey and Sue Tibbitts. Connie was a lifelong resident of Dallas, GA. and graduated from Paulding County High School in 1969. She attended the University of Georgia and graduated Magna Cum Laude with a bachelor’s degree in education, earned a master’s degree in education and a specialist degree in library science. She began her career as a math teacher at Paulding County High School in 1976 and later happily took the position of assistant to Mrs. Ira Foster in the school media center. She succeeded Mrs. Foster as Media Specialist and continued in that role at Paulding County High School and Hiram High School until her retirement in 2006. She dedicated the last few years of her life to caring for her parents. She loved books and reading from a very young age and enjoyed studying history and ancestry, especially WW1. Connie was an avid world traveler, visiting World War sites and historical locations. She adored nature and her hiking club, The Gadalongs. She cherished her beloved nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

Miss Tibbitts is survived by her mother; Sue Pope Tibbitts, siblings; Tony Tibbitts and Debbie of Lithia Springs, GA., Retha Tibbitts, of Powder Springs, GA., Tammy Kone and Stuart of Douglasville, GA., nieces and nephews; Erin Kinzer and Mike of Winston, GA., Cassie Hutchinson and Bo of Smyrna, GA., Molly Tibbitts and fiancé Douglas Cochran of Smyrna, GA., Harrison Kone and Annelise of Whitewright, TX., Tyler Kone of Douglasville, GA and fiancé Hattie Barry of London, England, Ryan Kone of Athens, GA., great nieces and nephews; Madison Gipson, Lily Gipson, Andrew Gipson, Kayla Kinzer, Colin Kinzer, Ava Joy Kone.

She is preceded in death by her father; Jerrell Umbrey Tibbitts.

Services for Miss Tibbitts will be graveside at Paulding Memorial Gardens in Hiram, GA. on Monday, January 18, 2021 at 3:00pm.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Paulding Retired Educators Association in honor of Connie Tibbitts. Please make checks payable to PREA and mail to Sandy Parson, 11 Clonts Rd. Douglasville, GA 30134.
