Charles Lester Ray

Charles Lester Ray passed away December 21, 2021 at the age of 84. He was born September 1, 1937 to the late George and Mary Ray. On June 14, 1969, Charles married the love of his life, Linda Ray (Crowley), and together, they raised 4 children, Cherrie, Misty, Sandie, and Eddie. Charles worked for 40 years as a carpenter and was a firefighter for 27 years. He loved his fire department and was the Fire Chief at New Hope Fire Station 3. Everyone who knew Charles would say he was a sweet, loving, caring man who loved to work. When not working or spending time with family, he enjoyed puzzles. He absolutely adored his grandbabies and will be remembered as a wonderful grandfather, father, husband and brother.

Charles is preceded in death by his daughter, Misty Conley; granddaughter; Sarah Conley, parents, George and Mary Ray; and brother, Robert. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Linda Ray; son, Eddie (Janet) Ray; daughters, Cherrie Ray and Sandie (Gene) Melton; brother, Johnny; sisters, Caroline, Betty, and Mary; 10 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends Thursday, December 23, 2021 at Clark Funeral Home, 4373 Atlanta Highway, Hiram, GA 30141, from 10:00am until 1:00pm. A graveside service will follow at Paulding Memorial Gardens, 3566 Jimmy Lee Smith Parkway, Hiram, GA 30141, at 1:30pm.
