Carol (Maynard) Clay

Edith "Carol" Clay passed away on May 3, 2022. She was born on October 30, 1947 to the late Horace and Lillian Maynard. Carol was a faithful member of East Hiram Baptist Church and she loved her church family. She enjoyed traveling to the Great Smokey Mountains with her beloved husband, Wendell, and visiting Cade's Cove. Carol loved living and experiencing new things. She was kind hearted, she never met a stranger, and was the most selfless person. She radiated joy, love, and everyone she met was touched by it. Carol was the best mother, wife, sister, grandmother, and friend to all and she will be greatly missed.

Carol is preceded in death by her parents, Horace and Lillian Maynard; her previous husband, George W. Ruff; and her brothers, Ronnie Maynard and Wayne Maynard. She is survived by her loving husband of 15 years, Wendell Clay; her daughter, Rebecca (Jimmy) Tatum; bonus daughters, Karen Black, Angie Garret; grandchildren, Michael (Alicia) Tatum, Heather (Will) Helton, Paul Tatum; and great-grandchildren, Myles, Caden, Tatum, Rose, and Dahlia.

The family will receive friends at Clark Funeral Home on Thursday, May 5, 2022 from 5:00pm until 8:00pm. Funeral Service for Mrs. Clay will be held at Clark Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, May 6, 2022 beginning at 11:00am with Pastor Rickey Bice officiating. Intement will follow at Paulding Memorial Gardens.
