Bette Brown Bacon Dunn

Bette Brown Bacon Dunn, 89, of Dallas, Georgia passed away May 26, 2019, quietly in her sleep of natural causes.  She was born to the late H. W. (Pete) and Lona Brown, on February 1, 1930, in Burnt Hickory, Georgia. Bette was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Dunn; brothers, Leo Curtis Brown and Lowell Brown; sisters, Ruth Mercer, Lawanna Jones. and her oldest nephew, Lamar Mercer.

Bette is survived by her three daughters: Ronda (Curt) Davis of Sarasota, Florida, Renna Flaig of Port Huron, Michigan, and Tammy (Keith) Jelks of Dallas, Georgia; four grandchildren, William Winn, Tori Jelks Thomason, Taren Jelks Winn, and Tyler Jelks;  two great grandchildren, Baylor Thomason and Mady Thomason; nephews and nieces, Jimmy Brown of South Carolina; Donald Brown of Texas, Betty Ann Brown of Texas,  Henry Brown of Texas,  Adele Jones of North Carolina; and Jean Jones of Dallas, Georgia.

Bette graduated from Dallas High School in 1948 and was a long-time member of the Dallas First United Methodist Church.  In addition to raising her three daughters, her accomplishments include being a very proud veteran of the United States Air Force in both active and reserve capacities, and a past member of the Dallas Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR).  She received the “Outstanding Military Citizen of Georgia Award” from the state in 1977.  Another local contribution that Bette made was serving as the Secretary-Treasurer for the Dallas Cemetery Trust for 13 years.

The family will receive visitors on May 28, 2019 1:00 PM-4:00 PM at Clark Funeral Home in Hiram, GA followed by a funeral service at 4:00 PM at the same location. Interment will follow at the Dallas City Cemetery in Dallas, GA.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Dallas First United Methodist Church.
