Barbara Ann (Bennett) Woodall

September 17, 1936 — May 9, 2022

Barbara Ann Bennett Woodall, 85, died on Monday, May 9, 2022, at her home in Dallas, Ga., passing away peacefully in her bed with her family close by and Alan Jackson's "I Want to Stroll Over Heaven With You" playing in the background.

A beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Barbara modeled her Christian faith in the way she cared for and took care of others, including her late husband, Carl, and oldest sister, Louise. Those who knew her will cherish memories of a woman who was generous, loving, fiercely independent and honest to a fault. Beset by significant health problems in her final years, she made it a point to share her love of Jesus with the doctors, nurses and other caregivers who crossed her path, blessing them even as they blessed her.

Born in the midst of the Great Depression, Barbara was raised in Kingston, Ga., and graduated from Cass High School. She was the youngest of six daughters of George and Mary Elmyra (Williams) Bennett, all of whom have preceded her in death. These incredible sisters and the amazing men they married - Louise Clark (Lewis), Ruth O'Conor (Joe), Ann Rush (Dan), Doris Pendley (the Rev. Ottis) and Kathleen Leonard (Harold) - remained close all their lives, loving and supporting one another in good times and bad while raising families of their own.

Barbara spent her last year living with son Rick and daughter-in-law Tracy (Morris), taking great joy and pride in grandson Jackson and granddaughter Kaitlyn. Other survivors include son Keith and his family, among them granddaughter Melissa, as well as numerous nieces and nephews who forever were close to her heart.

The family will receive friends from noon to 2 p.m. at Clark Funeral Home in Hiram, Ga., on Thursday, May 12, 2022. A service will follow led by the Rev. Eric Davenport, pastor of Wilscot Baptist Church in Morganton, Ga., after which Barbara will be buried next to her husband in the Bennett family plot in Kingston's city cemetery, not far from the house where she grew up.
