Sister Winnie Hunter passed away on Thursday, May 28, 2026, at the age of 91. She was born on June 21, 1934.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 59 1/2 years, Brother Bobby Hunter; her daughter, Tammy Gillespie; her grandson, Brother Johnny Ivey; her parents, Snowdy Guy Petty and Louella Petty; four brothers and three sisters.
She is survived by five daughters and sons-in-law, Peggy and Bob Juray, Gail and Donnie Ivey, Debbie and Billy Payne, Terry Gillespie, Sheila and Norm Heppner, and Stacy and Steve Pope; 11 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, and 17 great-great-grandchildren.
Sister Winnie served faithfully as a pastor's wife alongside her dear husband, Brother Bobby Hunter, at three churches for over 30 years. She was currently a member at Welcome Hill Baptist Church in Powder Springs, Georgia. She was a loving wife, mother, "granny", and friend to all who were privileged to know her, and she will be greatly missed.
Homegoing services for Sister Winnie will be held Saturday, May 30, 2026, at 12 noon in the Sam Clark Chapel with Pastor Nathan Knight officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral hour. Interment service will follow in Powder Springs Gardens of Memories with Donnie Ivey, Norm Heppner, Steve Pope, Billy Payne, Shane Ivey and Ryan Heppner serving as pallbearers.
