William "Clyde" Winn

William "Clyde" Winn passed away December 5, 2021 at the age of 94. Mr. Winn was born September 6, 1927 to the late Glenn and Berta Winn in Birmingham, Alabama. At the age of 17, Clyde joined the Marines and proudly served his country in WWII. He married the love of his life, Tommye Winn, in 1960, and together, they raised four children. Clyde was a good man and a wonderful father, always there when his family needed him. He went on to receive a mechanical engineering degree from Auburn University and he worked as an aircraft engineer at Lockheed for approximately 34 years. Upon retiring from Lockheed, Clyde and Tommye moved to Murphy, North Carolina where they resided since 1997. While living in Murphy, he and Tommye were members of Blairsville First Baptist Church. Clyde had a muscadine vineyard at Lost Mountain, was a scout master, and a deacon at Midway Presbyterian Church. Mr. Winn lived a full, rich life that will be greatly missed.

Clyde is preceded in death by his son, William Randall Winn; parents, Glenn and Berta Smith Winn; and siblings, Russell Winn, Gene Winn and Nell Foshee. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Tommye P. Winn; sons, Robert Allen (Emily M.) Winn, Thomas Gordon Winn; daughter, Diane W. (Carl) Wynne; brother, Ralph Winn; grandchildren, Joshua Wynne, Samuel Wynne, Sharon (Christopher) Hord, Ethan (Veronica) Wynne, Angela (Nico) Villacura, Walker Winn, Lily Winn, and Savannah Winn; and great-grandchildren, Noah Hord, Eli Hord, and William "Liam" Villacura.

A graveside service will be held Saturday, December 11, 2021, at Green Hill Cemetery, 1820 US-411, Etowah, TN 37331, at 12:00pm.

In leiu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Samaritan's Purse, a ministry of Franklin Graham, at samaritanspurse.org.
