William Randolph Arnold

William R Arnold, "Randy", was born in Atlanta, Georgia at Georgia Baptist Hospital. His parents, Bill and Zenobia Arnold were living in Hiram, Georgia at that time. He was born on July 25, 1939. Randy grew up in Hiram and was a 1957 graduate of Hiram High School, Young Harris College (1959) and Duke University (1961). At Young Harris he met his future wife, Margaret Ferrell from St. Mary's Georgia and they married December 23, 1961. Randy and Margaret had two children, Laurie Elizabeth and Jonathan Ferrell. They are the proud grandparents of five beautiful grandchildren. Randy served proudly in the U.S. Army for two years after being drafted shorty after their marriage. After serving in the Army, Randy had a career with Ford Motor Company, Prudential Insurance Company and retired from Paulding County Schools after twenty years as a math teacher and girls' softball coach at Paulding County High School.

Randy had many interests; gardening, fishing, traveling, eating good food, spending time with family, teaching Sunday School at Lithia Springs UMC and other leadership roles in church and community. Randy was a member of Paulding Retired Educators and served as president for two years. He was known for his generosity, quick wit and storytelling. He and Margaret traveled extensively after retirement and enjoyed cruising, visiting other countries and meeting new people.

Randy was a precious husband, father, grandfather and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Zenobia Arnold, brother, Rev. Rick Arnold, beloved aunts, Martha Arnold and Lemma Eason. Survivors, wife, Margaret Arnold, daughter and son in law Laurie and Bob Curtis, son, Jonathan Arnold, grandchildren, Tucker (Kayley) Curtis, Samuel Curtis, Zac Curtis, Martha Grace Curtis, and Charlie Curtis.

The family will receive friends on Friday, July 14, 2023 from 10:00am to 11:30am at Clark Funeral Home. A funeral service for Randy will be held Friday, July 14, 2023 at 11:30am in the Clark Funeral Home Chapel. Randy will be laid to rest at Paulding Memorial Gardens immediately following the service with Tucker Curtis, Samuel Curtis, Zac Curtis, Charlie Curtis, Joey Skinner and Denny Lord serving as pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Lithia Springs United Methodist Men's Bible Class.
