Walter Edward "Wally" Seligman, age 58, of Dallas, Georgia, suddenly passed away on March 28, 2026. Wally was born on September 15, 1967, in Penn Yan, New York, the son of the late Walter Edward Seligman and the late Clara Belle Yawger Seligman.
A trusted and talented mechanic, Wally was the sole proprietor of "Wally's Automotive," where he ran a successful repair shop for many years, serving Cartersville, Georgia and the surrounding area.
Outside of work, Wally was a passionate and dedicated volunteer. As a child, he grew up as a member of The American Legion Family. During adulthood, he continued this spirit of service to military members, veterans, police, first responders, their families and the communities in which they live. At the time of his passing, he was the Commander of The Sons of The American Legion (SAL) Squadron 111, and member of The American Legion Riders (ALR) both at American Legion Post 111 in Dallas, Georgia.
Wally took his position as Commander of the SAL very seriously and was extremely dedicated to helping others. Even though he had an office at Post 111, Wally never sat at his desk. He was always out working, shopping, cooking or helping run various fundraising events for the Post. Always at his side was the love of his life, Chris, who supported Wally in all his endeavors. They always were the first people to arrive for an event and the last ones to leave. No task was too big or too small for them.
A talented Chef, there was nothing Wally could not cook or smoke, especially on his gigantic pull-behind smoker. He served as the Head Chef for all of Post 111's fundraising events, such as Steak Night, Fish Fry Night, the Valentine's Dinner, the Thanksgiving Turkey Fundraiser and countless other events where he smoked his famous Boston Butts.
Everyone raved about Wally's cooking skills and his ability to smoke meats. Wally assured that no one ever went away hungry. He and Chris often hosted holiday gatherings at their home not only with delicious foods but also with warmth and generosity, welcoming all, especially those who might otherwise be alone.
Wally embodied the phrase "service behind self." He lent his cooking skills, talent and brought his smoker to many community fundraising events as well as benefit rides sponsored by the motorcycle community. Wally often served as the emcee or auctioneer during these events. With his quick wit and heart filled with compassion for others, he was a true asset to helping raise funds for those in need or for those who serve the community.
Wally was the brightest light in the room and he enjoyed making people laugh. He was a friend to all and without hesitation would help someone in need - day or night - no matter what the circumstance. Wally was often the first person who would welcome someone new and make them feel welcome. He had an infectious laugh and loved to tease people. His keen sense of observation and impromptu commentary endeared him to those around him.
Wally's other interests included motorcycles and fixing things. He always had a project in the works around his home and property.
Wally's joyful spirit, abundant energy, love and caring for those around him, laughter and willingness to volunteer his time to many organizations and causes will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him.
Wally is survived by his beloved wife, Christina "Chris" Webb-Seligman; his children: Shane Seligman, Amanda Conner, and April Cloniger; sisters: Roxanne and Sheila; grandchildren, Colton, Braxton and Paisley; father-in-law, Paul Andor; several nieces and nephews.
Wally's life will be celebrated with a gathering of family and friends at Clark Funeral Home, 4373 Atlanta Highway, Hiram, Georgia 30141, on Friday, April 3, 2026 from 12:00 Noon until 2:00 PM, where stories and memories will be shared. The Funeral Service will begin at 2:00 PM in the Sam Clark Chapel. All are welcome to attend and pay their respects.
