Philip Pelter

July 9, 1961 — April 26, 2026

Walter Philip Pelter, age 64, of Buchanan, Georgia, peacefully left this world on April 26, 2026, Philip was born in Atlanta, Georgia on July 9, 1961, the son of the late John William Pelter and the late Martha Willene Butler Pelter. Philip graduated from DeKalb Technical School and was a retired tanker driver.

Philip was a man of deep faith who found joy in the little things. He treasured the time spent with his family, always relishing the comfort of home and the company of his loved ones. His collecting passion led him to curate an impressive assortment of pocket knives, coins, Zippo lighters, and various other memorabilia, including cherished items related to lighthouses and old cars. His pride and joy was his beloved truck, a symbol of his appreciation for timeless craftsmanship.

A true animal lover, Philip had a special bond with his kitty cat, Ringo, who brought him endless happiness. His love for music transported him to yesteryear, while his penchant for storytelling made him a natural storyteller, particularly captivated by the tale of Edmund Fitzgerald. Philip lived life with a big heart, embracing all that made him unique.

In addition to his parents, Philip was also preceded in death by his sister, Martha Wood.

He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Chemaine Haley "Chemmy" Pelter; his children Micah Pelter, Kolbie Pelter and Erica Eley; his siblings: Georgia (Joe) White, Greg (Robin Jensen) Pelter, and David (Melissa) Pelter; brother-in-law, Dusty (Christy) Haley; several nieces, nephews, and others whose lives he touched with his warmth and unique spirit.
