Victor Earl Sims, age 74, of Douglasville, GA, passed away on Wednesday, August 5, 2020 at Tanner Medical Center. He was born on January 22, 1946 in Trussville, AL, to his late parents; William and Estelle Sims. Victor was retired from UPS, where he had worked as a delivery driver for 37 years. Mr. Sims served in the United States Marine Corps, where he bravely fought for our country during the Vietnam War. He was a proud veteran and one of the most patriotic men you would ever meet! Mr. Sims was a faithful member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church. He was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle and friend who will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his loving wife, Shirley Sims of Douglasville, GA, son, William Drew Sims, daughters; Wendy Denise Sims, Tina Nicole Cannon, brother, Clifford William Sims, sisters; Mable Sims Norris, Patricia Sims Williams, 6 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
In accordance to Mr. Sims’ wishes, his body has been cremated and a memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2020 at Poplar Springs Baptist Church with Dr. Wayne Meadows officiating at 2:00 PM. A private interment will be held at Georgia National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully asks that donations be made to Poplar Springs Building Fund in loving memory of Mr. Sims.
