Brother Timothy "Tim" Joseph Johnston, Sr., passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, June 4, 2026.
Born on November 8, 1962, in Douglasville, Georgia, to the late Roy and Ann Johnston, Tim lived a full and meaningful life in Dallas, Georgia. He cherished every moment with his beloved wife, Rita, who was truly the love of his life.
Tim was not only a devoted husband and father but also an inspirational evangelical preacher. Since 1997, he faithfully shared his love for the Lord through ministry and founded Guiding Light Ministries, where he passionately spread the message of faith and hope to others.
Family meant everything to Tim. He adored his children, Timothy Jr. and Brittany, and never missed an opportunity to share stories about his grandchildren, Charlie and Isaac, with anyone willing to listen. He enjoyed woodworking, camping in the mountains, and fishing whenever he had the chance. Tim was known for his warmth, generosity, and ability to bring people together. Time spent with family was among his greatest joys.
Tim is survived by his loving wife, Rita Johnston; his children, Timothy Johnston Jr. and Brittany Kiker (Matthew); his grandchildren, Charlie and Isaac Kiker; his sister, Melinda Warner (Bill); and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
The family will receive friends at Clark Funeral Home on Monday, June 8, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
Funeral services will be held in the Sam Clark Chapel on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at 2:00 p.m., with Brother Ricky Bice officiating.
Following the service, Tim will be laid to rest at Beulahland Baptist Church Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Timothy Johnston Jr., Matthew Kiker, Robert Avore, Nathan Ledford, James Pyland, and Robbie Avore. Honorary pallbearers will be Charlie and Isaac Kiker.
Tim's legacy will continue to shine through the countless lives he touched, the faith he shared, and the love he gave so freely.
