Mr. Thomas Edward Butler passed away on July 5, 2026, at the age of 78. He was born on April 18, 1948, in Dallas, Georgia, to the late Lee and Carrie Butler. Thomas was a loving husband, devoted father, cherished grandfather, and proud great-grandfather.
Thomas dedicated his working years to being a commercial painter, proudly running his own business. He was a hardworking and dependable man who believed in giving his best in everything he did. His passion extended beyond the worksite; he was a man of many interests. Outside of family life, Thomas found joy in the simple pleasures-he was an avid bass fisherman and took immense pride in nurturing his beautiful garden. He also had a soft spot for the beach, where he enjoyed soaking up the sun and making memories. Thomas could often be found enjoying a Pepsi Cola and a Three Musketeers bar.
A devoted family man, Thomas loved nothing more than spending time with his wife, Marie, with whom he shared an incredible 56 years of marriage. He was the proud father of Joseph (Jamie) Butler and Sheri (Barry) Manley, and he adored his grandchildren-Nichole (Kirk) Brown, Morgan Butler, Madison(Cameron) White, Lee Butler, and Noah Butler. His love only grew with the arrival of his great-grandchild, Lane Brown, and his soon-to-be newest addition, Gabriel White. Thomas is also survived by his sister, Burma Lou Elsberry, and several nieces and nephews.
The family will host a visitation at Clark Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM. A funeral service will be held at the Sam Clark Chapel on July 8, 2026, at 2:00 PM, with Pastor Darryl Jones officiating. Joe Butler, Lee Butler, Noah Butler, Wayne Cole, Greg Elsberry, and Blake Elsberry will serve as pallbearers. Thomas will be laid to rest at Peaceful Meadows Memorial Cemetery.
In celebrating Thomas's life, we remember a man who valued relationships, found delight in everyday moments, and left a legacy of love that will endure in the hearts of those around him.
