Steve "Paw Paw" Pettway, 88, passed away on September 5, 2025. He was born on July 10, 1937, in Atlanta, GA, to the late C.H. and Lillie Mae Pettway. Steve was a beloved father, father in law, grandfather, and friend who will be greatly missed.
Steve was a dedicated facilities technician, spending 38 years with AT&T, where his work played a significant role in his life. After retirement, he was a diligent volunteer worker at his daughter in law's business. Outside of work, Steve had many passions and hobbies. He coached little league baseball, enjoyed riding his motorcycle, loved to sing in the church choir, and cherished time spent with his family. He was also a charter member of Pickett's Mill Baptist Church, where he devoted much of his time to serving both the church and its members.
As a proud father and grandfather, Steve held his family close to his heart. He always made time for his loved ones and enjoyed talking with his children about anything and everything. However, his most meaningful gift to his family was a legacy of faith and love of Jesus Christ.
In addition to his parents, Steve was preceded in death by his loving wife, Jacqueline Pettway; his son, Alan Pettway; his great-grandchild, Levi Pettway; his brothers, Bill Pettway, George Pettway; and his sisters, Ann Thompson, Ruby Hall, Grace Brown and Mary Pettway.
He is survived by his son, Keith (Lisa) Pettway; his daughter, Dana (Hughie) Lind; his grandchildren, Neal (Brittany) Pettway, Kristen (Daniel) Baldus, Nicole Anderson, and Matthew (Taylor) Lind; nine great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
The family will receive friends at Clark Funeral Home on Sunday, September 7, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM. A funeral service will follow at 10:00 AM in the Sam Clark Chapel. Steve will be laid to rest in the mausoleum at Kennesaw Memorial Park in Marietta, GA.
In this time of sorrow, let us remember Steve for his kindness, his generosity, and his unwavering dedication to his family, and the joy he brought to everyone around him.
