Stephen Charles Edwards, age 58, passed on February 12, 2021 with his family by his side at Upson Medical Center of Thomaston, GA. Steve was a lifelong resident of Paulding County; he accomplished many things in life. He graduated from Paulding County High School and continued his education at University of Georgia where he earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1987. He then joined the Peace Corps where he was stationed in Honduras. From there he continued to further his education at George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia and earned a Master of Arts in International Trade in 2000. Steve is survived by his two children; Shane and Allison Edwards, his loving mother Brenda Paris Thornton of Hiram, GA., his father and stepmother Charles and Cathy Edwards of Newnan, GA., sister, and brother in-law; Kim and Kerry Barrett of Hiram, GA., also nieces and nephews and their children.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents; Ed and Iva Lee Harrison and Ridley Edwards and Evelyn Edwards Tibbitts; stepfather Gerald B. Paris and half-brother; Mark Edwards.
There will be a viewing at Clark Funeral Home on Friday, February 19, 2021 from 12:00 until 1:30 PM followed by funeral services at 2:00 at Clark Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Don Rackley officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Vernon Cemetery. Pallbearers will be as follows: Brad Huff, Barry Dillard, Shane Edwards, Brent Miller, Kerry Barrett, and David Williams.
If attending the visitation or service, the staff of Clark Funeral Home highly recommends that a face mask be worn, and that social distancing is practiced to help prevent the spreading of any possible illnesses and to help keep visitors, friends and family members of Mr. Edwards safe. The family would like to extend their love and appreciation to everyone who may be unable to attend the service in person due to the states Covid-19 restrictions (no more than 50 people inside the funeral home at one time).
