SD (Sam) Johnson

February 6, 1936 — August 3, 2021

SD (Daddy Sam) Johnson passed away Tuesday, August 3rd, 2021 at age 85 at Wellstar Paulding Hospital. Funeral services will be held at Clark Funeral Home in Hiram, GA with Rev Jimmy Tibbitts and Rev Chris Lockhart officiating. Interment will be at Georgia National Cemetery at 1080 Scott Hudgens Dr. Canton, GA 30141 at a later date.

Sam was born in 1936 in Nectar, Alabama. He served in the US Airforce for 13 years during the Vietnam war. During this time, Sam and Shirley Johnson married and remained married for 63 years. He retired from Delta Airlines after 27 years of employment. He served as a Deacon at Beulah Baptist Church, and then moved his letter to Villa Rica First Baptist. Sam loved Christ, Shirley, his family and friends in that exact order. He loved the outdoors, gardening, hunting and working with his hands.

He was preceded in death by his parents Willard and Esma Johnson on June 29th 2005. Surviving are (wife) Shirley Johnson of Hiram; 3 children Kent (Lee) Johnson, Bruce (Kenda) Johnson and Darrel (Kris) Johnson, 5 grandchildren; Laci (Josh) Brogdon, Rob (Allison) Johnson, Blake (Michelle) Johnson, Rachel Johnson and Willow Johnson; 4 great- grandchildren Tanner Brogdon, Alli Tyra, Harper Johnson and Shaw Brogdon; Sister Peggy (Jack) Green, Brothers Grant (Betty) Johnson & Bobby (Caren) Johnson as well as several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be: Rob Johnson, Blake Johnson, Tanner Brogdon, Josh Brogdon, Josh Welch, Gary Green & Jay Green.

The family will receive friends on Thursday August 5th from 5-8pm and Friday August 6th from 12-1pm at Clark Funeral Home located at 4373 Atlanta Highway, Hiram, GA 30141. The service will immediately follow at 1pm in the chapel.

In lieu of flowers, we ask that you donate to The American Kidney Fund in his honor. He wholeheartedly believed in their mission and our family has seen the good works first hand.
