Mrs. Frances Burton Forrester, age 104, passed away Friday, October 2, 2026. She was born June 25, 1922 in Atlanta, Georgia, daughter of the late Charles Rey and the late Sarah Caroline Forrest Rey. She lived a vibrant life, filled with music, love and adventure.
Frances played the trumpet and sang solo in an all girl band during World War II, bringing joy to the troops during a difficult time. Besides music, she had a passion for reading. She cherished the time spent living with her daughter, Kay, and her family in Texas, Illinois and Georgia.
For over 25 years, she served as an administrative assistant for the CDC and was of the Presbyterian Faith. She was not just a mother; she was a devoted grandmother who helped raise her grandchildren, leading them by example. Her warm nature and kindness will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Lewis Burton, who was killed in World War II; a son, John Forrester; sister, Martha Christopher; and three brothers, Dr. Charley Rey, John Rey and Robert Rey.
She is survived by a daughter, Kay Capraro; son, William Albert Burton; five grandchildren, Sterling Brown, Joseph Brown, Joshua Brown, Morgan Kennedy and Dominic Capraro; three great-grandchildren, Killian Brown, Ryder Kennedy and Scarlett Kennedy; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A private graveside service will be held at a later date.
