Richard Joseph Avery Jr., ( known to most as Rick ) age 59, passed away on Wednesday, July 8, 2026. Born on March 30, 1967, in Syracuse, New York, to Richard Avery and Linda Holmstrom. Richard resided in Dallas, Georgia.
Richard attended Oswego High School. He was a dedicated painter with Millwood Painting, where he spent many years honing his skills. Beyond his work, Richard was a genuine jokester who could always be counted on to lighten the mood with a smile or a well-timed quip.
Richard had a passion for tinkering, often taking things apart just to see how they worked. He loved the great outdoors-whether he was casting a line while fishing or riding his four-wheeler, he thrived in the fresh air and sunshine. Richard embraced life fully, cherishing every opportunity.
He is survived by the mother of his children, Tamara Gann; his daughters, Deseree Avery and Montana Avery; his sons, Dakota Avery and Kyle Avery; his Oswego parents, Richard and Loretta Avery ; his sisters, Anita Avery and Annette Avery; his brothers, Atom Avery, Andrew Avery, Jesse Pratt, Jerome Pratt, and Jeremy Pratt; and his grandchildren, Adazae Wesley, Gavin Peoples, Amberlee Lott, Oaklynn Avery, Allison Singletary, McKinley Singletary, and Braxton Glenn.
Richard was preceded in death by his daughter, Savannah Avery, and his sister, Tonya Holmstrom.
