Rebecca Dale Jones Willbanks, beloved educator and cherished matriarch, passed away peacefully from natural causes on Friday, October 24, 2025, at the age of 82. Born on June 22, 1943, in Dallas, Georgia, Rebecca dedicated her life to serving others, most notably as a teacher in the Paulding County School System, where she influenced countless students over her remarkable 26-year career.
Rebecca was not only an esteemed educator but also a passionate advocate for genealogy, founding the Paulding County Genealogy Society and Research Library. Her dedication to education extended beyond the classroom as she taught piano lessons, instilling a love for music in her students. A proud graduate of West Georgia College, she earned both her bachelor's and master's degrees, all while working diligently to support her education. Her journey included a two-year stint with Eastern Airlines, during which she traveled extensively and explored new horizons.
A member of the Dallas First Baptist Church, Rebecca's faith was a guiding force in her life. She was known for her love of photography and her admiration for her musical hero, Willie Nelson. Rebecca's legacy continues through her beloved grandchildren, Ian Locklear and Mia Shaughnessy, and her brother Herschel Maxie Jones, who will carry forward her passion for learning and creativity. She was preceded in death by her parents, Herschel and Louvie Jones; her daughter, Louvie Locklear; and her sister, Lila Anne Jones.
To honor Rebecca's memory, a graveside service will be held at Dallas Memory Gardens on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at 2:00 pm. Before the service, family and friends are invited to pay their respects during a visitation at Clark Funeral Home, beginning at 12:30 pm.
Rebecca Dale Willbanks will be deeply missed, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of all whose lives she touched. Her dedication to education, love for her family, and commitment to her community will be remembered forever.
