In Loving Memory of Patricia Jane Stroud
Patricia Jane Stroud, 84, passed away on October 27, 2023. She was born on November 14, 1938, in Muscatine, IA, to the late Glen and Helen Bixby. She leaves behind a devoted husband, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and 2 much loved cats who are still looking for her.
She was one of seven children, all except for her brother Rob have preceded her in death. Her humble beginnings led to a lifetime of legendary frugality. Known for her intelligence, Pat was a straight A student throughout her educational endeavors. Excelling in math, she had an affinity for numbers which served her well in her varied career pursuits. Throughout her life she was an award-winning horse trainer, bookkeeper, waitress, mortgage banker, and business owner. She and her husband, Joe built a successful industrial electrical company. They both worked hard to build the business, working harmoniously together – most of the time.
Beyond her zest for work, Patricia found joy in various hobbies. She was an avid reader, birdwatcher and had a fondness for paper. She loved solving puzzles and even explored belly dancing much to her son Darrin’s chagrin. Pat was a consummate record keeper. When she passed, her trusty spiral
notebook was not far away. She never met a potato that she did not like and could be counted on to speak her mind. Her loving candor will be missed.
Patricia's family was her pride and joy, she is survived by her beloved husband of more than 40 years, Joe Stroud; children, Doyle Reifert, Darrin (Danielle) Reifert, Kelley Long, and Julie (Leighton) Aronson; grandchildren, Jessica (Sean) Piersall, John Reifert, Kendall Aronson, Madison Reifert, Samantha Reifert, Chase Aronson, Meghan Reifert, Breanna Reifert, Alyssa Reifert, and Evan Reifert; great-grandchildren, Olivia Piersall, Grady Piersall, Emelia Piersall, and Caroline Reifert; brother Robert (Sue)Bixby and a host of other extended friends and family.
The family will hold a private memorial service at a later time.
Though Patricia may be physically absent, her spirit will live on in the hearts of all those she touched. May she rest in eternal peace.
Clark Funeral Home & Chapel is honored to serve the Stroud family during this difficult time.
