Ned Oscar Tibbitts “Papa Ned”, age 89 of Dallas, GA, passed away on Tuesday, July 13, 2021 peacefully at Cartersville Medical Center. He was born on January 4, 1932 to his late parents, Rev. Joseph Hollis and Marie Crew Tibbitts. Mr. Tibbitts was a member of Narroway Baptist Church and worked at Globe Union Battery for more than 30 years. He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Nell Tibbitts; siblings, Emily Smith, Joe Tibbitts, Annette Rakestraw, his twin brother Fed Tibbitts, CloEsther Leeds, Billy Tibbitts, and Lee Tibbitts; granddaughter, Summer Murdock.
Mr. Tibbitts is survived by his daughter, Bonnie Tibbitts; son, Lamar Tibbitts and wife Cheryl; sisters, Francis Michaels and Kay Lyle; brother, Herschel Tibbitts; grandchildren, Tabatha Tibbitts, Shannon Caillouet and Skip, Camille Murdock and Chad, and Casey Tibbitts and Jeremy; great-grandchildren, Chase Treadwell and Shanna, Lexy Ragsdale and Joseph, Shea Treadwell, Mason Stoyles, Cameron Treadwell, Kaden Walton, Baylin Ragsdale, Ragan Walton, Sky Howard, Cash Smith, Kolby Smith, Peyton Waddell, Paylen Stephens, Austin Caillouet, MaCade Caillouet, and Kaylee Caillouet; great great-grandchildren, Isaac Treadwell, Alex Christian, Jack Christian, Caroline Helinger, and Nevaeh Williams-Caillouet.
Funeral services for Mr. Tibbitts will be held at Narroway Baptist Church on Friday, July 16, 2021 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Todd Tibbitts, Rev. Herschel Tibbitts, and Rev. Eddie Davidson officiating. Interment will follow at the church cemetery with the following as pallbearers: Skip Cailouet, Jeremy Stephens, Chad Smith, Mason Stoyles, Kaden Walton, Chase Treadwell, and Cameron Treadwell. Nate Kelly, Colby Smith, Tyler Tant, Daryl Farmer, and William Moore as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends at Clark Funeral Home on Thursday, July 15, 2021 from 5:00 until 8:00 PM.
The family would like to extend their love and appreciation to everyone who may be unable to attend the service in person due to Covid-19 concerns.
In lieu of flowers, the family ask that donations be made to Narroway Baptist Church or Mt. Moriah Baptist Church.
