Nancy "Nanny" Castleberry passed away on May 9, 2026, at the age of 75. Nancy was born on July 9, 1950, in Marietta, Georgia, to the late Mr. Thomas Jackson Sanford Sr. and Mrs. Texana Sanford.
As a dedicated Rural Mail Carrier for the U.S. Postal Service, Nancy's warm smile and friendly demeanor brightened the days of many in her community. She took great pride in her work and worked for over 30 years. Before joining the postal service, Nancy was a hairdresser for 20 years. Nancy's zest for life extended beyond her career. Whether it was soaking up the sun at Daytona Beach or exploring the beauty of the mountains, she found joy in life. A crafty soul at heart, she could always be found creating beautiful arts and crafts. Nancy also loved to cook and share delicious meals with family and friends.
Nancy had a special role in honoring loved ones who have passed. She dedicated her time to arranging beautiful floral tributes for those laid to rest at Hunt's Cemetery, showcasing her love and care for the community.
Along with her parents, Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, Victor Castleberry, whom she had been married to for 47 years.
Nancy leaves behind her beloved son, Marty Castleberry; sister, Joyce Dickson; cousin, Thomas Sanford III; and many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to gather for a visitation at Clark Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, in the Sam Clark Chapel. Rev. Jimmy Tibbitts will be officiating, and Levi Caldwell, Michael Dickson, Todd Caldwell, Tyler Caldwell, Nick Wilson, and Nathan Wilson will serve as pallbearers with Kylie Caldwell as an honorary pallbearer. Nancy will be laid to rest at Hunt's Cemetery following the service. Friends and family are invited to continue celebrating Nancy's life at Big-Un's Biscuits from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM following the burial. It is located at 11090 Cartersville Hwy. Dallas, Ga 30132.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Hunts Cemetery Fund in Nancy's name. Donations can be sent to Kelly Wilson, 10900 Cartersville Hwy. Dallas, GA 30132.
As we say our final goodbyes, let us all hold onto the wonderful memories of Nancy and the impact she had on our lives. Rest in peace, dear Nancy.
