Michael McCormick O'Brien

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Michael McCormick O'Brien on Friday, January 30, 2026, at the age of 77. Born on March 1, 1948, in Providence, Rhode Island, Mike was known for his vibrant personality and larger-than-life presence. He was the son of the late Henry and Helen O'Brien.


A proud graduate with a Bachelor's Degree, Mike made his mark in the hospitality industry as the manager of the Key Biscayne Beach Club, where he spent many years creating memorable experiences for visitors. His love for life wasn't just confined to his professional achievements; he was a passionate athlete who played college football at the University of Miami and the University of Tennessee at Martin.


Mike was a dedicated father to his daughter, Michelle Ferrell, and her husband, Rodney, and cherished his role as a grandfather to Savannah Vincent and great-grandfather to Zeke Vincent. He is also survived by his brother, Charles O'Brien, and his wife, Diana; his niece, Michelle Diane Hatem, and her husband, Muazzi; and his great-nephews, Sean Louis and Luke Hatem. Family meant everything to him, and he took immense pride in being part of their lives. In addition to his parents, Michael was preceded in death by his loving wife, Barbara O'Brien.


Mike lived a life full of adventure and business endeavors, owning several successful ventures throughout his career. His spirit for entrepreneurship mirrored his zest for life, earning him respect and admiration from colleagues and friends.


In keeping with his wishes, Mike's remains will be cremated.
