Mary "Lady" Ayers

Mary “Lady” Ayers, age 89, of Douglasville, GA (Paulding Co), passed away on Monday, September 17, 2018. She was born on December 13, 1928, in Dallas, GA, to the late James Roy & Alice Austin, and was preceded in death by her husband, Ruben Ayers, and son, Bill Ayers. Lady Ayers was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed having fun and truly enjoyed life to the fullest. She played basketball, softball, kept the score book for the Braves at home, loved Georgia Tech and playing checkers and Rook. She was a member of New Georgia Baptist Church.

Survivors include her son, Doug Ayers of Douglasville, GA; daughter, Bonnie & Frank Rainey of Albertville, AL; brothers, Tom & Julia Faye Austin of Douglasville, GA, Possum & Grace Austin of Douglasville, GA; sister, Bobbie & Woodrow Leggett of Dallas, GA; five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 20, 2018, at 2 PM, from New Georgia Baptist Church, with Dr. James Burdette and Charles Bice officiating. Lady Ayers will lie in state at the church from 1 PM until 2 PM. Interment will follow in Melrose Hills Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, September 19, 2018, from 4 PM until 8 PM.
