Mary Faulkner Shattles, passed away peacefully on February 26, 2026, at the age of 88. She was born on November 18, 1937, in Fitzgerald, Georgia, to the late Hilton and Sarah Faulkner. Mary was a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend who touched the hearts of many throughout her life.
Mary truly embodied the definition of a pastor's wife and devoted family member. Her love for them was immeasurable, and her faith in the Lord was unwavering. Mary dedicated herself to being a homemaker while also being her husband's secretary. Mary worked behind the scenes, keeping her husband organized and on time but also taking care of others. Her work reflected dedication to both God and people. This was a very personal job for the church, and Mary did it to perfection. She always brought warmth and kindness to everyone she met. Music was a significant part of her life; she was a great bass and banjo player, spreading joy through her wonderful gift.
Along with her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Bob Shattles. Mary and Bob were married for 44 wonderful years when Bob passed away in 2001.
Mary is survived by her son, Jim Shattles; daughter, Robyn (Gene) Wray; grandchildren, Paul (Sheana) Hicks, Ashley (Heath) Partin, and Alicia (Tony) Argo, along with six great-grandchildren.
Mary's family will hold funeral services to celebrate her life. A visitation will take place at the Clark Funeral Home on Sunday March 1, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, followed by a funeral service in the Sam Clark Chapel at 2:00 PM. Mary will be laid to rest at Paulding Memorial Gardens that same day.
