Mary Anne Ellen Duffy Boone, age 81, affectionately known as Anne, passed away September 1, 2026. Anne was born June 5, 1945, in Jacksonville, FL, daughter of the late James LaSalle Duffy and the late Vivian Ellen Johnson Duffy Warren.
Anne was a spirited soul whose life was dedicated to caring for others. She was a proud graduate of St. Pius High School in Atlanta and went on to complete her nursing degree at St. Joseph's Hospital School of Nursing. Her nursing career spanned over four decades, with significant contributions at the Veterans Administration Medical Center and Emory University Hospital, where her compassion and dedication shone brightly.
Anne was more than just a devoted nurse; she was a vibrant personality who cherished life. In her younger years, she found joy in teaching dancing aerobics at the YMCA and tennis on the courts, exuding enthusiasm and energy that lit up the lives of those around her. In her free time, she enjoyed playing the guitar and writing songs, and her appreciation for all genres of music enriched her life and the lives of others.
An avid conversationalist and storyteller, Anne had a remarkable ability to engage those around her, capturing hearts with her anecdotes and laughter. She never met a stranger and had a story for every occasion.
Above all, Anne was a devoted mother and grandmother. Her deepest love was reserved for her children and grandchildren, and she found immense joy in nurturing their dreams. As a faithful follower of Jesus, she found solace in her faith in Christ and spent much time reading her Bible and praying for her family.
In addition to her parents, Anne was also preceded in death by her husband, Ronnie Boone; step-father, Gene Warren; and step-brother, Russell Warren.
Anne is survived by her loving children, Dean Boone, Samuel (Angie) Boone, and Rachel (Jeremy) Lundy; brother, Jim Duffy; step siblings, Richard (Connie) Warren, Betty Jean Masterson, and Pat (Winston) Harvey; grandchildren, Gabriel Lundy, Gracie Lundy, Noah Lundy, Sarah Lundy, Nathan Boone, Elizabeth Boone, William Boone, Blaire Boone, and James Boone; several nieces and nephews.
