Lurlene Smallwood, a cherished matriarch and beloved member of her community, passed away peacefully on April 10, 2025, at the age of 69. Born on November 7, 1955, in St. Elizabeth, Jamaica West Indies, to the late Rupert and Estelle Lloyd, Lurlene lived a life that was a beautiful tapestry woven with love, kindness, and unwavering strength.

Throughout her life, Lurlene touched countless lives through her dedication to her work and her nurturing spirit. She spent over 19 years as a Supervisor at a boys' group home, where she became a beacon of wisdom, stability, and compassion. Living by the philosophy that "it takes a village," Lurlene offered guidance and care not only to her own children but to many others who considered her a second mother.

Lurlene was also highly skilled in various trades, including Medical Assisting, Cosmetology, Business Management, and Child Education. Her diverse expertise was a reflection of her boundless curiosity and determination to help others. Whether providing care in a medical setting, offering beauty services, managing a business, or educating children, Lurlene applied herself wholeheartedly to each role, always striving to make a positive impact in the lives of others.

A woman of deep faith, Lurlene was an avid reader who found joy in both dream books and the Bible, often sharing insights and wisdom with family and friends. She expressed her creativity through sewing, music, cleaning, shopping, and art, and her joy for life was infectious. A devoted member of her church, Lurlene gave selflessly to her community, always seeking ways to serve others and put their needs before her own.

Lurlene was preceded in death by her parents, Rupert and Estelle Lloyd, as well as her siblings: Garfield Lloyd, Delafield Lloyd, Macminn Lloyd, Dennis Lloyd, Lee Lloyd, Japheth Lloyd, and Ruby Lloyd Salmon.

She leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and service, survived by her devoted children: Tyna Falconer, Bridgette Welcome, Horace "Mexican" Wishart, Steffonne Smallwood, and Shadae' "T T" Smallwood. Her grandchildren, Giovanee Welcome, Jeshon Harris, Shadana Welcome, Justyn Harris, Horace Wishart Jr., Hailey Wishart, Hannah Wishart, Maxwell Wishart, and Serenity Smallwood, along with her great-grandchild Alaïa Wishart and Cienna O'Neal, will carry forward the spirit of love and warmth she instilled in them.

Lurlene is also survived by her beloved siblings: Lally Smith, Gysbert Lloyd, Elsie "Dinsy" Lloyd Smith, June Wright, Lincoln Lloyd, Cotret "Jimmy" Fuller, and Olsen Lloyd.
