Lori Elizabeth Cook Wood went to bed on Friday, March 18, 2022 and did not wake up the following morning. She was 64. Lori was born and raised in Griffin, Georgia, and spent most of her life in Hiram, Georgia. She worked for 25 years as a claims adjuster, and she had an entire book's worth of stories of the strange and often humorous ways people have injured themselves inside a Home Depot.
Lori was a loyal friend to those closest to her, as long as you were okay singing Bob Seger songs late into the night. She was the constant in her household, working full time, cooking dinner every night (even if it was Hamburger Helper), and driving her boys to baseball practice - many times by herself while her husband was working out of town. Her greatest loves, apart from her family, were Cajun food and the Florida Keys.
Until her last breath, Lori never stopped grieving for her husband and soulmate, Danny Lee Wood, whose passing almost 10 years ago left a hole that could never be filled. Her love for him was as great as the chorus from her favorite song, Led Zeppelin's "Thank You":
If the sun refused to shine
I would still be loving you
Mountains crumble to the sea
There will still be you and me.
Her friends' and family's deepest hope is that they are together again.
She is survived by her two sons, Coleman and Pearce Wood; her daughter-in-law, Jessica Wood; her two energetic grandsons, Logan and Thorin Wood; her sister, Rhonda Cook; her two brothers, Scott and Keith Cook; her two sisters-in-law, Tanoa and Nicole Cook; her three nephews, Trenton, Brian, and Conner Cook; her niece, Madison Cook; and her step-mother, Marilyn Cook.
She was loved. She is missed.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, March 25, 2022, at 11 a.m. at Trinity Anglican Church, 2260 Defoor Hills Rd. NW, Atlanta, GA, 30318.
