Lillian Jeanette Underwood, age 90, passed away on October 28, 2026. She was born on January 3, 1936, in Alabama, to the late Troy and Robbie Mae Holland.
Lillian spent her life spreading joy, kindness, and love to everyone around her. She was a devoted wife, a wonderful mother, and a caring friend whose generous heart and hardworking spirit touched countless lives.
For many years, Lillian worked as a custodial worker at Kennesaw State University. She also generously volunteered at Helping Hands, giving her time to help others in need. She was known for her strong work ethic, dedication, and warm spirit. Whether through her career or her volunteer service, Lillian touched the lives of many people throughout her life.
At home, Lillian was always busy. She took great pride in keeping her house immaculate, and you could often find her wiping down counters and making sure everything was just right. Her home was a place of comfort, warmth, and love. She was an amazing, loving mother who made sure her family was well cared for, preparing hot, home-cooked meals every morning and evening. Her family will forever cherish the memories of gathering around her table and enjoying the love she put into everything she did.
Some of the sweetest memories her children carry are of family camping trips during their childhood. Those times together created treasured memories that will live on for generations.
Lillian's generosity extended far beyond her immediate family. She opened her home and her heart to many family members who needed a place to stay while searching for jobs and finding homes of their own. She never hesitated to help someone get back on their feet. Her kindness, compassion, and willingness to lend a helping hand were simply part of who she was.
After retiring, Lillian continued to enjoy life and stay active in her community. She was a devoted member of Riverside Church of God and enjoyed the fellowship and friendships she found there. She was also a proud member of the Red Hat Club and loved traveling on the many trips organized through the Paulding Senior Center.
She embraced these adventures, enjoyed the friendships she made along the way, and continued making wonderful memories throughout her retirement years.
Above all, Lillian loved her family. She showed that love through her hard work, her cooking, her open door, and the countless ways she made sure the people around her were cared for. Her life was a testament to the belief that love is best expressed through what we do for others.
Lillian is survived by her loving husband, Seba Underwood; her daughters, Rhonda (Michael) Conn and Alicia Durrett; her son, Michael Underwood; and her brothers, Arvis Holland and Jerry Holland. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Brian, Jason, Kevin, Michael Jr., Brandon, Danielle, Derrick, and Nesha. She is lovingly remembered alongside her late grandchild, Sebrea. Among those especially dear to her heart was her great-granddaughter, Jada, whom she and Carthell lovingly took into their home and raised for several years. Lillian also leaves behind 22 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren, all of whom are part of the family legacy she cherished.
She was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Gwen Roberts; her brother, Donald Holland; and her sister, Jean Kennedy.
Lillian's passing leaves a void in the hearts of those who loved her, but her legacy will live on in the family she cherished, the home she lovingly cared for, the people she helped along the way, and the countless memories she created. She will be remembered for her loving heart, her tireless hands, her generous spirit, and the unconditional love she gave so freely.
Lillian's family would like to welcome everyone for a visitation on Monday, November 2, 2026 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 Pm at Clark Funeral Home. There will then be a memorial service to honor Lillian at 2:00 PM in the Sam Clark Chapel.
