Kurt Douglas Hagemann

July 22, 1953 — July 1, 2023

Kurt Douglas Hagemann passed away on Saturday, July 1, 2023. He was born on July 22, 1953, son of the late Burdell and Grace "Joyce" Hagemann in Julesburg, CO.

He was a master of many skills, and could create, fix, or improve just about anything. He took great pride in a job well done. He said, "if you're going to do something, you may as well take the time to do it right the first time". This was a value he learned from his father, and it served him well.

Kurt was never happier than when he was outdoors. He enjoyed camping in any mode, from tents in his younger years to various RVs throughout his adulthood. He completed many extended mountain hikes in the Sierra Nevada as part of his Boy Scout experience, including the John Muir Trail.

He built and surfed his own surfboards on Southern California beaches. He was a boating enthusiast, and either rebuilt or built from scratch his own speedboats for play on the Colorado River. He enjoyed modifying and improving various vehicles for off-road use. He loved dune buggies, ATVs and Jeeps.

He worked as a mechanic, in the refrigeration industry, cabinet business, Yellow Freight, and mobile hydraulic hose repair. He worked hard at hard jobs his entire life, all out of love for his family.

He had a great love for our country and the principles upon which it was founded, and after retirement, he and Peggy sold their home and spent several years traveling full-time.

By far the most important job in Kurt's life was as a family man. He considered Peggy and Kyle, and later Kyle's family in every decision he made. He instilled in his son his values of self-reliance, honesty, perseverance, and dependability.

Kurt is survived by his wife of 44 years, Margaret "Peggy" Hagemann; a son, Kyle Hagemann; a daughter-in-law, Amber Hagemann; a brother, Bradley Hagemann; two sisters, Jody Hagemann Baca, Shauna Hagemann; two grandchildren, Emmett Hagemann, Owen Hagemann.

There will be no local service in Georgia. Instead, the family will have a celebration of Kurt's life in Yellowstone next summer.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Kurt's honor towards either the Tunnel 2 Towers or St. Jude's Partners in Hope .

Clark Funeral Home is honored to care for the Hagemann Family during this difficult time.
