Julie Simek

Julie H. Simek, 52, passed away peacefully in her home on November 29, 2025. She was born on August 2, 1973, in Hillsboro, Illinois, to Ronald Harston and Mary Jo Hand. Julie was a loving mother and Nana, devoted to her family, and she will be greatly missed.

Julie had an infectious zest for life. She loved trout fishing with her best friend, Wesley Dover, and spent countless weekends camping under the stars. An artistic soul, she had a passion for collecting unique treasures and embraced creativity in all its forms.

She is preceded in death by her father, Ronald Harston, and her daughter, Brittney Cochrone.

Julie is survived by her children, Payton Warth, Kaitlin Cochrone, Natalie Warth, and Kane (Britney) Simek; her mother, Mary Jo Hand; her brothers, Blake (Denise) Harston and Josh Harston; her sister, Suzanne (Timothy) Cotton; her grandchildren, Colten, Kooper, Kayson, Hunter, Knox, and Brynlee; and a host of nieces, nephews, 

Julie will forever be remembered for her warmth, her love for her family, and her adventurous spirit. May she rest in eternal peace, surrounded by the beauty she cherished throughout her life.

Shortly after the passing of Julie the family also lost her brother, Joshua Harston and her mother, Mary Jo Hand.

The family has decided to memorialize the amazing lives of Julie, Joshua, and Mary Jo all together. Visitation will be held at Clark Funeral Home on February 7, 2026, from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm, followed by a memorial service in the Sam Clark Chapel at 2:00 pm. Come join us to celebrate the wonderful lives of Joshua, Julie and Mary Jo and the countless memories they created with all of us. We'll be sharing stories, laughter, and maybe even a few tears, just the way they would have wanted it.
