Joyce (Purcell) Shelton

Joyce (Purcell) Shelton, 84, of Austell, GA passed away on Saturday, May 15, 2021 at Tranquility Hospice in Austell. She was born on August 1, 1936 in Atlanta. Mrs. Shelton was a homemaker who loved feeding the birds.

She is survived by her sons Grady Shelton of Austell; Wayne (Becky) Shelton of Villa Rica; daughter-in-law, Cathy Shelton of Euharlee; one brother, Roy May of Loganville; many grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Mrs. Shelton is preceded in death by her husband, James Harold Shelton, her son James Shelton, and her parents, Mac and Lena Hames Purcell.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 19, at 1:00 p.m. at Clark Funeral Home Chapel with Wayne Shelton officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Olivet Church Cemetery with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Derek Shelton, Tyler Butler, Austin Smitherman, Wesley Butler, Steven Shelton, and Brian McGouirk. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, May 18, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

The family would like to extend their love and appreciation to everyone who may be unable to attend the service in person due to Covid-19 concerns. If attending the visitation or service, the staff of Clark Funeral Home highly recommends that face masks be worn and that social distancing be practiced to help prevent the spreading of any possible illnesses and to help keep visitors, friends and family members of Mrs. Shelton safe.
