Peggy "Joyce" Norton, age 87, went home to be with the Lord on July 3, 2025. She was born on August 7, 1937, in Douglasville, Georgia, to the late Noah and Lucille Sibley. Joyce lived a vibrant life filled with faith, family, friends, and an impeccable sense of style.
Joyce called Conyers, Georgia her home for many years, but most recently resided in Hiram. She was married to the late Bob Norton for 52 wonderful years, many of which he served as a Southern Baptist pastor. She was a dedicated pastor's wife, a homemaker, and served for many years in the Heard County school system. She was also a valued employee at the prestigious law firm, King & Spalding. Joyce's life revolved around her support for her family, her commitment to the church ministries, and her deep dedication to her community.
Known for her kindness and impeccable sense of fashion, Joyce was always stylishly dressed, complete with full hair, makeup, and jewelry, even for the simplest outing. She built a reputation for kindness and generosity and was known for her well-stocked gift closet. Joyce never missed an opportunity to celebrate friends and family with thoughtful gifts and cards for birthdays and special occasions.
Joyce leaves behind a loving family that includes her daughter, Sharon Zunt, and son, Wade Norton; beloved grandchildren Jeffrey Norton, Ansley Norton Swanger, and Zach Zunt. She was also a proud great-grandmother to Chase Norton, Kayden Norton, Makinlyn Norton, and Tyleigh Swanger. Joyce is also survived by her sisters Nancy Henderson and Wanda (Ken) Hungate as well as nieces; Gaye (Darrell) Mobley, and Jill (Jonathon) Stepp; nephews Mitch (Joy) Henderson, Scott (Beth) Henderson, and Blake Payne. Joyce also had many great nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, Joyce is preceded in death by her son-in-law Jim Zunt and brother-in-law Rod Henderson.
