Emblem

Joseph Doyle Ethridge bid farewell to the world on October 16, 2023, at the age of 85.

Born on December 3, 1937, Joe was a remarkable man who touched the lives of many. A true family man, he was "Papa Joe" and "PawPaw" to his grandchildren whom he cherished greatly, and he adored children tremendously. They brought immense joy to his life, and he always made sure to let them know how much he loved and cared for them.

Joe was also a man of unwavering faith. A dedicated follower and servant of God, he found solace and strength in his spiritual beliefs.

Another aspect of Joe's life that brought him great fulfillment was his involvement in the Masonic and Shriner fraternities. He was a devoted Mason and Shiner, having served as a past Master Mason. His commitment and contributions to these organizations were highly regarded by his peers, and he took great pride in upholding their values and traditions.

Academically inclined, Joe earned a bachelor's degree in psychology.

To unwind and enjoy his hobbies, Joe took pleasure in traveling to watch NASCAR races, feeling the exhilaration of the roaring engines and cheering on his favorite drivers. Additionally, he found solace in spending time in the woods, hunting, and immersing himself in the beauty of nature.

Joe's vivacious spirit and friendly nature made him an incredible friend to many. His friends affectionately called him Big Buddy, a name that perfectly encapsulated his warm and inviting personality.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents Bill and Vera Ethridge, as well as his brother, Billy Wayne Ethridge.

Joe is lovingly survived by his wife of 16 years, Shirley Ethridge, his sons, Timmy (Anna Marie) Ethridge, and Joey (Tammi) Ethridge, his daughters, Robi McDaniels, Kayla (Evan) Dobson, and Jennifer (Eric) Whitten. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Taylor Martin, Avery Dobson, Adam Ethridge, Joseph Dylan Ethridge, Nicole Kennedy, Haleigh Moyer, Jason Ethridge, Joseph "JoJo" Ethridge, Cody Ethridge, and his 12 great-grandchildren.

The Family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 18, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Clark Funeral Home. A service for Joe will be Thursday, October 19, 2023, at 12:00 p.m. at Clark Funeral Home & Chapel. Following Joe's service, he will be laid to rest at Paulding Memorial Gardens with Timmy Ethridge, Joey Ethridge, Jimmy Davis, Jessie Davis, Michael Brannan, and Joseph Dylan Ethridge serving as pallbearers. Buddy Nix will have Joe's back, serving as honorary pallbearer.

Joseph Doyle Ethridge will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. May his soul rest in eternal peace, and may his memory forever be cherished in the hearts of those who loved him.
