Jonnie Black Freeman

Jonnie Lou Black Freeman passed away on Wednesday, March 27, 2024. She was born on March 15, 1931, daughter of the late William and Ombra Ivy Avance in Paris, Arkansas. Jonnie was a devoted member of New Canaan Baptist Church where she faithfully served our Lord and Savior. Although she loved going to church, her greatest loves were her grandchildren. It was her joy and life to take care of them and took great pride in doing so. Family was of upmost importance to Jonnie, and she always looked forward to spending time with them. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who will be dearly missed and forever loved.

In addition to her parents, Jonnie is preceded in death by her first husband, Melvin Black; her granddaughter, Robin Sims; and stepdaughter, Jamie Fielder.

She is survived by her loving husband, James William Freeman; her three children, Susan Cochran, Peggie Higgs, and George Black; stepdaughter, Lisa and her husband, Roger Baty; son-in-law, Andy Fielder; grandchildren, Chad Higgs, William (Leanna) Higgs, Dustin Cochran, Evan (Jessica) Cochran, Krystal "Danny" Black, John Black, Peter Black, Jessica Baty (Christian) McMillion, Michael Baty, Kelly Baty, Andrew Fielder, Ryan Fielder; great-grandchildren, James Higgs, Anna Cochran, Landon Cochran, Rylee Sims, Kallie McMillion, Charlotte Baty, Leyah, David, Chelse, and Johnny.

The family will receive friends at Clark Funeral Home and Chapel on Saturday, March 30, 2024, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Jonnie will be held at Clark Funeral Home and Chapel on Saturday, March 30, 2024, at 1:00 PM with Pastor James Cook officiating.

Interment will follow at New Canaan Baptist Church Cemetery with her grandchildren serving as pallbearers.
