John Wesson Shipp

John Wesson Shipp, Jr. passed away on Saturday, July 29, 2023. He was born October 4, 1962, son of Wesson Shipp and Emogene (Shipp) Parson of Hiram, GA.

John worked as a welder and carpenter early in his career, until he became disabled due to battling epilepsy. John loved and adored his two sons, Sloan and J.T., whom he had many fantastic adventures with at every opportunity given to him. He was active in sports for many years, loving Alabama Crimson Tide, Atlanta Falcons, Atlanta Braves, and NASCAR. John was a force to be reckoned with, and someone who always left an impression on most who met or knew him.

John is survived by his two sons, Sloan Wesson Shipp and J.T. Shipp; sister, Suzanne (Alan) Portwood; niece, Laura (Bo) Hartman and Nathan; nephew, Jonathan (April) Portwood and Ryland, Kylie and James, along with a large group of extended family and friends.

The family will receive friends at Clark Funeral Home on Saturday, August 12, 2023, from 12:00pm-2:00pm. John's family will have a private service at another time.
