John Archer Roesch, 85, passed from this life on June 16, 2010, after a short illness.
Mr. Roesch was born March 30, 1925 in Port Huron Michigan, where he lived with his parents until joining the Army during World War II. A veteran of three wars, he served for 26 years in the US Army. Mr. Roesch married Johanna Dale in 1950. During their 58 years of marriage he and his wife raised their five children and moved a number of times, living in several states and in Japan. After retiring from the Army, Mr. Roesch moved to Marietta, Georgia, where he returned to college, earned a degree and worked for the Cobb County School District for a number of years. Mr. Roesch was preceded in death in 2008 by his wife, Johanna, and resided most recently at the Kimberly Assisted Living Home in Dallas. Mr. Roesch is survived by his five children: a daughter, Nancy Chisholm of Dallas, Georgia; and four sons, Victor Roesch of South Lyons, Michigan, Robert Roesch of Marietta, Georgia, Gregory Roesch of Eastanollee, Georgia, and David Roesch of Aragon, Georgia. Also surviving are a sister, Margaret Eichenberg of Westland, Michigan, and a brother, Jack Roesch of Port Huron, Michigan. Known as Opa, he also leaves behind 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. In celebration of his life, friends and family are invited to Clark Funeral Home in Hiram, Georgia, from 5 pm - 8 pm on Monday, June 21, 2010. Friends and family will be invited at 7:15 to remember Mr. Roesch in eulogy. This will be followed by a Rosary Prayer Service. Funeral services will be held at 10 am on Wednesday June 23rd at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Dallas, Georgia. The Rite of Committal (Graveside Service) will follow at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Georgia, at 1 pm. Mr. Roesch was a beloved husband, brother, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him and loved him.
