John Wyle Louis Glass Sr.

John Wyle Louis Glass, SR, 81, passed away on Friday, September, 4, 2026. He was born on May 4, 1945, to the late, Odessia Lee and Rufus William Glass, in Paulding County, Georgia. He attended and graduated from Matthew's High School.

After graduation he went into the United States Air Force. In 1969, John married Ida Bell Brooks Copeland. They have remained married for over 56 years. They share one son, John Glass, JR, and also a special daughter, Carmen Slater and her husband Charles Slater.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, Frances Estes, Corina Flemester, Amy Glass and Bertha Mae Hamilton; and two brothers, Robert Dodds and Ray Glass.

John is survived by two sisters, Evelyn Hightower and Linda Glass, and two brothers, William and Larry Glass.

John worked for 40 years at the Naval Air Station, formerly in Smyrna.

John enjoyed such hobbies as sign language, music, writing poems, plays, and stories. He also enjoyed meeting and talking with people in his community of Powder Springs.

At an early age John received Jesus Christ as his savior.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, at 11:00 am, with Pastor Gary Baulding officiating at Sam Clark Chapel. Interment will be held at 2:00 pm, on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, from Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Georgia.
