Joel Lee Daily

Joel "Joe" Lee Daily, 77, of Dallas, Georgia, passed away on Sunday, August 30, 2026 surrounded by his family. He was born on December 20, 1948, in Huntsville, AL, to the late Alfred Lee Daily and Verna Mae Brigham Daily.

Joe graduated from Butler High School in Huntsville Alabama, class of 1967. He was recruited upon completion of trade school and worked as a systems engineer for the same company for over 40 years. He had a deep love for God's creation and spent the majority of his free time gardening and working in the yard with his wife, Sheila, camping, or just sitting outdoors on his screened in porch or his garage. His love for music ran deep and started as a child when he (a right handed man) taught himself to play guitar by closely watching a left handed guitar player. He started then and never stopped! His love for many genres spanning rock, country, gospel, bluegrass and more just grew and grew over the decades. He was in several bands over the years.

Joe was an honorably discharged Sergeant in the U.S. Army and served in Vietnam from early 1971 to March 1972 just shortly after landing his first job.

Joe was both a giver and a doer. He was always involved in many projects whether it be fixing something, creating something, playing music, building something, or making things look beautiful. He loved his garden, his fig trees and tomato plants, being outside, and working hard. His true loves were his music and his people. There were many nights when you could find him strumming his guitar or picking on his banjo either by himself or surrounded by his music buddies. He loved having jam sessions in his "music barn" of which his family and friends have many fond memories and plenty of stories to share! 

Joe gave the best advice. He had a calm and loving demeanor and welcomed anyone and everyone into his circle. He had many close friends that shared warm stories of how he touched their lives with his words of wisdom or helping hand.

In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his brother, Jimmy and his sister, Barbara Atkins.

He is survived by his loving wife, Sheila Daily; son Zayden Sweatman; daughters Amy (Mike) Chaplin, Chanda Cattadoris; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sisters Evelyn (Searcy) Hall and Betty Owens; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family. More than can be counted!

The family will receive friends at Clark Funeral Home on Saturday, September 5, 2026, from 9:00-11:00 AM. A celebration of life for Joe will follow at Clark Funeral Home the same day at 11:00 AM, with Amy Chaplin officiating. The service will be livestreamed below. Interment will take place at Georgia National Cemetery on Friday, September 11, 2026, at 11:00 AM.
