Fishing was another passion of Joan's. She found peace and joy by the water, casting her line and enjoying nature's beauty. Her adventurous spirit led her to exciting places like Las Vegas, Myrtle Beach, and Biloxi, Mississippi, where she cherished unforgettable moments and created lasting memories. Joan was also a devoted pet lover, and her dog, Bandit, brought her endless joy.

Along with her parents, Joan is preceded in death by her husband, Andrew William Smith; son, Gary Max Cato; daughter, Shelia Shelnutt; and brothers, Marvin Neill and Robert Neill.

She leaves behind her loving daughter, Shelby Smith, and her faithful cat, Long John Silvers. Their lives are forever touched by her warmth and spirit.
