Jimmy Ray Corley, 90, received his Heavenly Reward on April 12, 2026. Jimmy was born April 2, 1936 to Eunice Franklin Corley and Lou Selma Thomason Corley in Dallas, Georgia where he was a lifelong resident. Jimmy was a proud veteran of the United States Army where he served in Germany, France, and North Carolina. After being honorably discharged from the Army, Jimmy went on to work more than 32 years at the General Motors Lakewood Assembly Plant in Atlanta. An extremely hard worker, he also spent many years hauling pulpwood and firewood to make extra money for his family. Jimmy was a devoted member of Narroway Baptist Church where he was known for always having a smile on his face.
Jimmy was an avid fisherman and enjoyed spending time at Corley Lake, which he helped his father and others build in the 1950's - a place still being enjoyed by the family to this day. He enjoyed annual deep sea fishing trips and vacations in Florida with his family - a cherished tradition for many decades. Jimmy also enjoyed hunting deer in the mountains of Paulding County and telling stories about his father and other local men reintroducing white tailed deer to this area as reported in an article in Outdoor Life Magazine. He loved spending time with his family and coached many Little League baseball teams.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 68 years, Sonja Matthews Corley, and stillborn son Jimmie Ray Corley Jr. He is survived by children Jeff Corley, Joey Corley (Tracy), Ginger Corley, and Chris Corley (Lori), grandchildren Brooke Kendall (Tyler), Blake Corley (Terina), Adam Corley, Kaley Corley, Ansley Johnson (Brent), and Erin Corley, great-grandchildren Hannah Moore (Garrett), Austin Doty, Baylee Kendall, Logan Skinner, and Halen Johson, and great-great grandson Lane Moore.
Visitation will be held at Clark Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 14 from 5-7 pm. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Narroway Baptist Church on Wednesday, April 15 at 1:00 pm with Rev. Todd Tibbitts, Rev. Jimmy Tibbitts, and Rev. Herschel Tibbitts officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be nephews Derek Lawrence, Jason Matthews, Josh Matthews, Tim Carruth, Jerry Shearin, David Corley, grandsons Tyler Kendall and Brent Johnson and great-grandson Austin Doty.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jimmy's memory to the Narroway Baptist Church Cemetary Fund. Attn: Joan Ratteree, 102 Corley Rd., Dallas, GA 301332.
Clark Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the service of Jimmy Ray Corley.
