Jimmy Lane Burchett graduated on Tuesday, September 6th at age 83 in Dallas, Georgia following a lengthy illness. Funeral services will be held at Clark Funeral Home in Hiram, GA with Rev. Vermon Parmer officiating and Bro. Joe McAdams speaking.
Jimmy was born on August 12,1939 in Calhoun, Georgia to Era Loretta Moss Burchett and James Roy Burchett. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam war. During this time, Jimmy and Patricia married and remained married for almost 61 years. He retired from Lockheed Martin Corporation after 25 years of employment. He was a devoted member of New Life Baptist Church in the New Hope Community. Jimmy loved Jesus, Pat, and his family and friends with his whole heart. During his life, he loved to build. He built houses, furniture and he could fix anything!
He was preceded in death by his parents, Era and Roy Burchett and his brother, Kenneth Burchett. Surviving are his wife, Patricia Burchett of Dallas; 1 child, Krisenda (Darrel) Johnson, 2 grandchildren; Blake (Michelle) Johnson, and Rachel Johnson; Sisters Deborah Dodd, Gail Pettit and Brenda Dixon, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers are Blake Johnson, Roger Gayton, Matthew Dodd, Stephen Dodd, Bill Gayton and Rick Wood. Honorary pallbearers are Leon Gayton, Andrew Dodd, and Richard Peacock.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 8th from 1 -3 PM with the service following at 3:00 in the chapel at Clark Funeral Home located at 4373 Atlanta Highway, Hiram, GA 30141. Interment will follow at Paulding Memorial Gardens at 3566 Jimmy Lee Smith Parkway, Hiram, GA.
